Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin coverings custom made to cover the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. If you wish to change the color, shape, size or length of your teeth, Dr. Clayton M. Hansen may recommend dental veneers in American Fork, Utah. Dental veneers, which are made from porcelain or resin composite materials, can be used to fix the following smile imperfections:

  • Stained teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
  • Slightly crooked or crowded teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Gaps and spaces between teeth

Veneers are great for taking care of that one “problem tooth” or covering up a harmless defect that was the result of an accident or chance. A veneer can make your smile look more even and as healthy as it feels, allowing you to choose what sort of impression to make on everyone around you.

When placing a dental veneer, our dentist will first remove a small amount of enamel from the tooth to allow room for the veneer in your mouth. Impressions will then be taken of your tooth so that a dental veneer can be constructed. A shade of material will be selected that closely matches the color of your natural teeth or lightens the shade of your tooth. When the veneer is ready, our dentist will temporarily place the veneer on the tooth to check its fit and color. Adjustments will be made as necessary, and then our dentist will permanently cement the veneer in place.

Once your veneer is placed, just stick to your regular oral health care routine: brush and floss regularly and visit our office for your regular cleanings. Veneers can last a long time with proper care, especially if you are careful to avoid foods that can stain your veneers or crack them through forceful chewing.
